Following graduation, Debbie has undertaken a PhD in immunology, and a residency in veterinary dermatology. Debbie was working a senior lecturer at The University of Edinburgh until 2022 before joining Veterinary Specialists Scotland as Head of Dermatology to establish a new specialist-led dermatology service in Scotland. Combined with her clinical dermatology, Debbie is passionate about enhancing dermatology research and participates in Mars Ecosystem collaborations to allow her to continue this research work. Debbie is involved in projects to help understand the mechanisms of canine allergic skin disease as well as work to help improve the monitoring, diagnosis and management of these cases.
Debbie is a European and RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology, and she was awarded an RCVS Fellowship for her meritorious contribution to clinical practice in 2022. She has gained additional qualifications in higher education/teaching and has completed an MBA with the University of Durham Business School.
